Let's start at the beginning. Sugar is made up of two simple sugars, namely: glucose and fructose (the ratio differs per type of sugar).

Although fructose certainly has a lot of negative effects on your health, I want to limit myself in this article to the negative effects of glucose.

Glucose is not bad in itself. In fact, you wouldn't be able to live without glucose. For example, your brain uses glucose as the primary fuel.

The problem arises when you take in too much glucose (which happens with a piece of cake or with a Frappuccino with caramel).

By ingesting such a wave of glucose (in the form of sugar) at once, your blood sugar level quickly rises to a dangerous height.

Your body responds to this by quickly producing a lot of insulin. Insulin is the hormone that regulates your blood sugar, so it can quickly filter excess glucose from your blood.

This does insulin so well and efficiently that it accidentally filters out too much glucose from your blood. This is also known as a blood sugar crash or sugar dip.

With such a blood sugar dip, when there is little glucose in your blood, your brain thinks: "Oh no, we are almost out of energy, I have to eat!". And that gives you a feeling of hunger.

And that feeling of hunger is not just a feeling of hunger. No ... your body wants more glucose, so you are particularly hungry for sugar (or bread, pasta, potato, etc. - but more about that later).

As a result, you eat one of those products (because ignoring such a feeling of hunger is about as easy as holding your breath for 5 minutes ... you just can't, no matter how much you want).

And so the circle starts all over again: your blood sugar level rises, insulin is produced, blood sugar level dips, you get hungry, you eat again, your blood sugar level rises, etc, etc.

If you have to eat something every 2 or 3 hours, chances are you're in this circle. And it's high time we got out of that.

Because if there is a lot of insulin in your blood, it is practically impossible to burn body fat - both belly fat and fat in other places.

(That's because insulin blocks the enzyme HSL, and HSL is responsible for mobilizing your body fat.)

But how do we do that, to prevent our blood sugar from rising? Actually very simple, by eating much less sugar.

Occasionally a candy or cookie is possible (but really occasionally), but nothing else. And be especially careful with products from packs and bags, often (a lot of) sugar is added.

But sugar is not the only nutrient that raises your blood sugar. Carbohydrates * do this too. Let's take a look at that ...

Step 2: What do we do with carbohydrates?

Examples of carbohydrate-rich products are bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, noodles and breakfast cereals. Products that we often eat in Western culture.

You've probably heard of a low- carb diet , because in recent years, the low-carb diet has gained a lot of popularity.

And that is not without reason. A low-carbohydrate diet works very well. But why does it work? Why do carbohydrates cause you to become overweight quickly?

To answer those questions it is important to understand that carbohydrates are made up of a very long circuit of the simple sugars, glucose.

And in the previous step you learned that glucose blocks the belly fat burning and makes losing weight belly very difficult.

For the very same reason, it is also better to eat low carbohydrates if you want to burn your belly fat.

Because the moment you eat a carbohydrate-rich meal - such as a few sandwiches or a plate of pasta - the carbohydrates in your stomach are broken down into loose glucose molecules.

And so they have exactly the same effect on blood sugar as the glucose from sugar.

The only difference is that sugar makes the blood sugar rise even faster than carbohydrate-rich products, because the carbohydrate-rich products must first be broken down in your stomach into the smaller glucose molecules.

Step 3: What do we do with vegetables?

Now that we have talked about the products that you should especially leave, it is now time to talk about the food that you can eat a lot.

And then I am talking about vegetables. Of course, in addition to vegetables, there are a lot of other things you can eat (such as nuts, seeds, seeds, grass-fed meat, cold water fish, organic poultry and much more). But in particular I want to dwell on vegetables.

Why are vegetables healthy? In short, because they contain a lot of vitamins and dietary fiber.

And also make sure you get enough raw vegetables, because they often contain much more healthy nutrients than cooked vegetables.

When cooking or baking vegetables, please note the following:

Do not cook or fry them too long, overcooked vegetables lose a lot of nutritional value.

Use a lot of herbs and spices to keep the meal tasty.
Wash the vegetables well before use, often pesticides have been used in cultivation.

But as I said it is also important to get enough raw vegetables. And that's something I see few people do.

Get into the habit of snacking at noon with a carrot, a piece of bell pepper or another tasty raw vegetable.

The idea might make you look dirty, but if you know the right recipes they won't taste wrong (and often even good).
